In a book about pro-diversity and self-acceptance, a little brown skinned girl goes about comparing herself to the wold around her. From the shining sun to the flying birds, she's here to be or do anything she wants because she's worth it. She teaches us that we are everything, and we can do anything!
The illustration in this book are different from your everyday book, but don't let that stray you away! It's different because there's not much to the background except for a few simple drawings, but the little girl is drawn in full color and doing everything she dream in order to draw emphasis on the importance of the individual being enough. There's no need for more than simple white backgrounds, YOU are enough!!
This book is great for Social Studies! I would use this book with first graders due to the little wording, and I would use it to tackle down discrimination in the classroom. I would explain that no matter the color, shape, or size we are all enough and should treat each other as so. A lot of kids make imprudent questions when they notice someone's looks different from them, so this book helps avoid that and brings the classroom together.

Like you said this would be a great book to incorporate in a younger classroom to open discussion about cultural and racial diversity. This could help students see other people's lives from a different perspective!
